click for larger photo Last week we had some nice clear days, lovely and cold. These first shots I took just walking around town. Copy of a copy of a... ...This is from a display board at the Southern end of Banff Avenue - the main street. Taken in the 1890's, Cascade Mountain looks fairly similar today - but around the Avenue things have changed a bit.
click for larger photo You can't really go wrong with a clear mountain day and some fresh snow on the mountains. This was also taken from the Southern end of Banff Avenue and across the Bow River.
click for larger photo I decided to follow the river trail upstream - I don't remember ever having walked along here the last time I was in Banff. Just further along there is a place to hire canoes - look forward to that next summer.

click for larger photo Saturday is hockey night. We had a house trip down to Canmore to watch the Canmore Eagles - lost in over time. This was much better to watch than the Calgary Flames game I watched last time I was out here - there is no big league at the moment - on strike!
click for larger photo Fancy a dip? Took these last two on a Sunday drive to Johnson Canyon. These are the lower falls. I remember seeing some ice climbers on the Upper falls when I walked in here with my family - looks like it’s not quite cold enough for that yet.
click for larger photo Ice was building where ever spray from the falls was settling - on the rock, railings and making the path very slippy.
