The main part of this building used to house the gondola. The clock tower used to hold the weighting system - its now home to the IT guys - cos they don't need windows... With National Park building regulations Sunshine have to be inventive and versatile in using old buildings. |
But occasionally they're allowed to put up new buildings. This is where I work most of the time, on the first floor - top brass have offices on the second - Big Brother is watching! Customer Services and Tickets are in here, along with an Intersport. |
The inside of rental - along with some of the crew - Kat, Clare and Ben. Our department has over thirty guys - have a guess as to the ratio of Canadians, Aussies and Europeans... |

This is the inside of the old gondola station. Some inspiration needed maybe. As there is no real skiing down to the base area usually the only guys using this picnic area are the base area staff. Very strange eating my lunch in here when nine years ago I used to be chasing gondola cabins around in it. Notice anything about the picnic tables and benches? Nothing wasted out here. |
Part of the old station is now our tech. shop. I get to work up here sometimes - possibly scarey to any of you who know that ,really, I've been blagging it as a handy man for the last six years! Botch It & Leggit LTD... Even though the hill is really quiet at the moment, the tech. shop is pretty busy - lots of damage from poor snow coverage and bindings to mount on the performance gear. |
Enough of the boring shots. This is one of the great views from the gondola ride up the mountain. Takes the sting out of the thirteen minute ride to the Village - used to be twenty minutes. I believe the mountain is Bourgeau - which our base area is named after. |

As described in the brochure - "Delirium Dive - Freeride Zone - special restrictions apply". Oh yeah, can't wait to get in there. |
Last, but certainly not least. The Salomon Test Centre, or tent, depending on your point of view. All kinds of goodies in here - carvers, fatties, boards. All we need is some more snow and I'll let you know how they go. |
